The Students Innovation Festival (SIF) takes a celestial leap with the upcoming Space Hackathon 2023, a remarkable extension dedicated to the realm of space technology and exploration. This educational initiative, under the aegis of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), invites students to merge their passion for space with cutting-edge technology.

BHUVAN Portal Orientation & Hackathon Mentorship
Unlike any other event, Space Hackathon 2023 offers a unique one-month mentoring program, providing guidance on navigating the BHUVAN Portal. ISRO NRSC experts will mentor students in accessing geospatial data and identifying potential problem statements. This mentoring period ensures well-informed and impactful projects.
BHUVAN Portal: Revolutionizing Geospatial Exploration
BHUVAN, developed by ISRO, offers a range of services, including visualization of satellite data, thematic maps, and near real-time disaster services. The portal, compliant with Open Geospatial Consortium standards, has been a catalyst for innovation through hackathons and mappathons.

Embark on the Journey
Registration is open for teams of up to 4 members. Eligible participants are students pursuing graduation in recognized Indian colleges/universities. Teams will submit problem statements and solutions using BHUVAN tools and data.
Areas for Problem Statements
Explore problem statements in diverse areas, from open API and user interface to cyber security and disaster management. Innovate in fields such as AI/ML applications, natural resources management, and marketing of products and services.
Problem Identification and Report Submission
During the mentoring period, participants will identify space-related problem statements and refine their approaches with the guidance of ISRO NRSC experts. Project proposals are due by December 20th, 2023, on the IISF website.
Finale: Recognizing Innovation
The top 50 teams will be invited to the 30-hour Space Hackathon finale at the Indian International Science Festival (IISF), held from January 17th to 19th, 2024. The list of finalists will be declared by December 30th, 2023.

Teams can select problem statements and submit proposals to IISF. The 50 best teams will be shortlisted for the Level 2 finale at IISF.
Level 2: Finale at IISF
The finale, held physically at IISF, Faridabad, from January 17th to 19th, 2024, will recognize winning teams with an opportunity to interact with ISRO for further scaling up.
