NIRF Ranking 2021: IIT Madras on top in the overall ranking, IISc Bangalore at number two
NIRF Ranking 2021:
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and IIT Bombay are the second and third top institutes in the country. IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur are among the top 5 institutes in the country.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has retained the top spot in the NIRF 2021 rankings for the third consecutive year. The institute had secured 83.88 and 85.31 marks in NIRF 2019 and NIRF 2020 rankings respectively. The ranking of universities and higher educational institutions based on the government’s National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) has been released today i.e. on September 9.
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and IIT Bombay are the second and third top institutes in the country. IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur are among the top 5 institutes in the country. This is the sixth NIRF ranking of higher educational institutions in the country. While IITs are among the top 10 engineering colleges this year, two NITs have also made it to the list.
The top 10 engineering colleges in the country are IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Tiruchirappalli and NIT Surathkal. The rankings are made for ten categories- Overall, University, Management, College, Pharmacy, Medicine, Engineering, Architecture, ARIIA (Unaltered Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements), Research and Law.
Institutions have to register and submit the data in NIRF ranking as well as make the same data public through their website. NIRF also conducts physical audits and checks to ensure that the data provided is authentic. As per the rules, if the institute is providing wrong data, it can be debarred from the ranking and also have to face the consequences.
AIIMS Delhi at number one in the medical category
AIIMS Delhi has been ranked as the top institute in the category of medical institutions.
